Luxair, in close coordination with the Luxembourg Government, has organised a first repatriation flight to facilitate the safe return of travellers affected by the current situation in the Middle East.
A large number of Luxair teams have been mobilised to support this operation. Given the complex situation and the challenging conditions at the destination, organising this flight required significant efforts. Luxair fully recognises the difficult circumstances and uncertainty faced by the passengers and is pleased to be able to assist in facilitating their safe return.
The aircraft, which initially operated from Muscat and continued via Hurghada due to crew duty time limitations requiring a layover, is currently en route to Luxembourg with 104 passengers on board, including 9 children, and is scheduled to arrive today at around 18.45. With this operation, Luxembourg is among the first European countries to facilitate the return of travellers from the region.
This flight has been arranged as part of the coordinated national efforts led by the Luxembourg Government. Luxair would like to thank the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works, including the dedicated staff of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs who supported the operation on the ground, as well as the civil aviation authorities and all partners involved for the very smooth and efficient cooperation that made this operation possible. Luxair would also like to personally thank Minister Xavier Bettel and Minister Yuriko Backes for their strong support and close collaboration over the past several days in making this operation possible.
Despite the complex and rapidly evolving situation affecting aviation operations across the region, work is ongoing in close coordination with the Luxembourg Government to organise a second
repatriation flight.
Luxair has also positioned a second aircraft in support of the ongoing repatriation efforts, which continue in close coordination with the Luxembourg Government and the relevant authorities.
« I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all Luxair teams and our partners for their exceptional commitment over the past days. In a complex and rapidly changing situation, our colleagues
demonstrated professionalism, solidarity, and unwavering dedication to bringing our passengers home safely. We are fully aware of the difficult conditions and challenges faced by passengers at the
destination and are doing everything possible to assist them. This operation reflects the very best of Luxair: people who step up, collaborate, and act with purpose when it matters most. I am immensely proud of all of you. I would also like to thank our passengers for their patience, understanding, and cooperation under very challenging circumstances. », says Gilles Feith, CEO of Luxair
