SMS group is implementing a generational change in the management at Paul Wurth S.A. in Luxembourg: as of August 1, Tim Ovelgönne will join Paul Wurth S.A. and, effective October 1, will assume responsibility as Managing Director. Until September 30, Frank Wagener, who has been with the company for more than 20 years and has served as Managing Director since 2024, will continue in the role, ensuring a smooth and collaborative handover. Furthermore, he will also continue to contribute to SMS group in his roles as board member of Nei Hollerich S.à r.l. and Paul Wurth Real Estate.
Paul Tockert will remain in his current role as Technical Director and work closely with Frank and Tim to ensure a seamless transition and continued stability.
Tim Ovelgönne is an experienced executive within SMS group with a strong track record in leading complex business projects as well as driving technology-based transformation. In his previous roles, he has successfully contributed to the development and industrialization of innovative solutions and will now lead Paul Wurth into its next phase of growth.
The leadership transition reflects SMS group’s commitment to the further development of its Luxembourg site, which remains a key hub for engineering, technology, and R&D within the group. The company’s strategic direction, organizational setup, and ongoing initiatives remain unchanged.
