London City Airport is today celebrating the arrival of Luxair’s new-generation Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, marking the latest step in the airport’s continued growth and investment to strengthen connectivity to key European markets.
The new aircraft, which operated on today’s Luxair flight from Luxembourg to London City Airport, offers capacity of approximately 136 seats, boosting the links between the two financial centres and supporting business travel, visiting friends and relatives (VFR) and leisure demand.
The E195-E2 is the largest aircraft currently operating at London City Airport and combines increased capacity with industry-leading fuel efficiency and significantly reduced noise levels. Its noise footprint at take-off is around 60% smaller than that of current jet aircraft such as the E190, providing further benefits for local communities around the airport.
Andy Cliffe, CEO, London City Airport, says: “We’re excited to welcome Luxair’s new-generation E195-E2 to London City Airport. The aircraft is a strong demonstration of Luxair’s continued commitment both to London City Airport and to connecting two important European districts.
By bringing increased capacity and a modern, quieter aircraft to the route, Luxair is helping us strengthen connectivity alongside our continued focus on a more sustainable future for aviation which these modern aircraft help to deliver. We look forward to maintaining our close partnership with Luxair as the airline grows its presence at London City.”
Gilles Feith, Luxair CEO, says: “London City has been a special destination for Luxair for more than two decades. We have always felt genuinely welcome and have built a great relationship with the airport, our partners and, most importantly, our passengers.
Connecting two major European financial centres, this route is particularly important to us. With frequent flights and our high-quality, full-service offering, we aim to make travelling between London and Luxembourg as convenient and comfortable as possible.
The introduction of our new Embraer E195-E2 is another step forward, offering more capacity, a quieter cabin and greater comfort, with no middle seats.
I would personally like to thank our passengers for their trust and loyalty over the years, and everyone at London City Airport for their warm welcome and continued support. We look forward to many more years together.”
The E195-E2 is the latest generation of Embraer’s E-Jets family and has been designed to combine the flexibility of a regional aircraft with the efficiency and capacity needed to serve markets that larger aircraft cannot always serve as effectively.
Passengers travelling on the E195-E2 will also benefit from the E-Jets’ two-by-two seating configuration, meaning there are no middle seats, alongside a quieter and more spacious cabin experience.
Marie Louise Philippe, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Embraer, adds: “We are delighted to celebrate Luxair’s E195-E2 flight to London City Airport. This milestone highlights the exceptional capabilities of the E2, combining outstanding efficiency, lower emissions, reduced noise and a superior passenger experience. The arrival of Luxair’s newest aircraft at LCY further demonstrates how the E195-E2 is enabling airlines to connect key European markets with greater sustainability and operational performance. We congratulate Luxair and London City Airport on this important achievement and look forward to supporting the airline’s continued growth with the E2.”
With up to 31 flights per week on the London City route, Luxair is introducing the E195-E2 on selected flights.
On Monday, 12 October 2026, passengers travelling on flight LG4594 from London City Airport to Luxembourg were welcomed with champagne, lunch and goody bags before boarding.
